We’re proud to share an important milestone for Pachamama Coffee: two of our coffees — Perú and Machu Picchu — are now Regenerative Organic Certified®.
This certification marks a meaningful step forward in our long-standing commitment to Regenerative Organic Coffee and our 100% farmer-owned model that puts farmers and the land first. The Regenerative Organic Certified® designation is overseen by the nonprofit Regenerative Organic Alliance and recognizes farming practices that restore soil health, strengthen ecosystems, and support farmer livelihoods.

In Perú, this certification reflects the work of COCLA, a farmer-owned cooperative in the Cusco region and one of Pachamama’s founding partners. COCLA’s smallholder farmers have been caring for their land for generations, growing coffee in diverse, shade-grown systems that protect biodiversity and build healthy soil. Regenerative organic certification brings shared standards and visibility to this work, while honoring practices that have long been part of daily farm life.

For Pachamama’s farmer-owners, regenerative organic farming is not new. Indigenous communities across Perú and the Andes have farmed in balance with nature for centuries. Long before modern agriculture or certifications existed, farmers were composting organic matter, intercropping food crops, protecting shade trees, and working with natural cycles. Regenerative Organic certification is a reflection of this ancestral heritage, guided by Indigenous knowledge passed down through generations.

Our name, Pacha Mama, means Mother Earth in the Quechua language of Perú. In Andean culture, Pachamama is honored as the source of life and abundance. Farming is guided by a belief in reciprocity with nature — that the land gives generously when it is cared for in return. This principle continues to shape how our farmer-owners grow coffee and steward their land.

All Pachamama coffees are certified Organic Coffee, and Regenerative Organic Certified® builds on that foundation. As a farmer-owned cooperative, all profits flow back to the farms, supporting better harvests, stronger communities, and a more resilient future for coffee. We’re honored to celebrate this milestone with ROA and our partners at COCLA and look forward to expanding Regenerative Organic certification across more origins over time.
