Introducing Inca Mountain Organic Coffee Blend: The Colors of Vinicunca

Summary: Inca Mountain, the organic Pachamama coffee blend first built for cold brew, has a fresh roast and a fresh label. Coffees from Perú, Nicaragua, and Ethiopia come together in a medium-dark roast with flavor notes of blackberry, maple, and cacao, fine-tuned to brew just as well hot as cold. The mountain on the bag represents Vinicunca, Perú's Rainbow Mountain, read the story below.

An organic coffee blend for espresso, drip or cold brew, year-round

We have enhanced the original Inca formula behind this hot and cold brew blend, and it's better than ever. Our new Inca Mountain organic blend brings three origins into one cup: a smooth, chocolate-forward base of Peruvian coffee, bright blackberry complexity from natural-process Ethiopian beans, and Nicaraguan coffee that rounds it all out with an inviting maple aroma. The result is a medium-dark roast that's smooth and layered.

Originally, we built this blend with cold brew in mind, and it still shines there. Now it is optimized so it performs just as beautifully hot - as a drip coffee, a pour-over, or pulled as an espresso. This coffee is for every season and every method, a roast that can carry you from January to December.

Vinicunca: the sacred mountain behind the name

You'll notice something else new: the label. The Inca mask that once graced this bag has given way to a sweep of color rising like a mountain range across the package. That mountain has a name — Vinicunca, or Winikunka, better known around the world today as Rainbow Mountain.

Rainbow Mountain sits in the Peruvian Andes near Cusco, not far from the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu, part of the same sacred mountain range as Apu Ausangate, one of the region's most revered peaks.

To the Quechua people and the Inca before them, mountains like this hold deep spiritual authority as Apus, living spirits who protect the communities around them, govern the weather, and offer guidance to those who live in their presence.

In Inca cosmology, Vinicunca carries energy believed to interact with Pachamama, Mother Earth herself, bringing fertility, abundant harvests, and balance to the land. Several times a year, as part of the Andean agricultural calendar, local communities climb these slopes to give thanks for the year's harvest and ask for protection over the season ahead — offering coca leaves, small stones, and quiet words of gratitude directly to the earth.

Hidden for generations, revealed by a melting glacier

For centuries, Vinicunca's famous stripes stayed hidden, buried under a thick blanket of snow and glacial ice. Generations of Andean farmers lived and worked in its presence without ever seeing the colors we now recognize so easily.

It was only as that ice began to melt that the mountain's true face emerged — a striking, bittersweet reminder that even sacred, ancient places carry the marks of a changing climate.

What Rainbow Mountain's colors mean for this blend

Those colors are the story our new label tells. Each ochre, rose, and turquoise band running across the bag traces back to a different mineral in the mountain's soil — iron, sulfur, clay, magnesium — layered over thousands of years into something singularly beautiful. It felt like the right image for this blend, because Inca Mountain is built the same way: distinct origins, layered together, each one showing up in the cup. Peru, Nicaragua, and Ethiopia settle into balance here, the same way Vinicunca and Pachamama are said to. We think there's something for nearly everyone in this bag — hot or cold, morning or afternoon, drip or espresso.

Farmer-owned, from soil to cup

There are smallholder farmers behind each of these three origins, families across our five member cooperatives who grow, process, and hand-select the beans that make this blend what it is. Every note of chocolate, every hint of blackberry, every bit of aroma in your cup started as a decision made on a farm, by a Pachamama farmer-owner who has a direct stake in the coffee's quality and success. That's what 100% farmer ownership tastes like.

We are excited to bring this new look, and this elevated blend, back to you. It's a beautiful addition to our lineup, and we think it is one you'll want in your cup all year long.
