BEHIND THE LABEL

Found in the large forests of Central America, the Quetzal is Guatemala's national bird. It stands out for it's brilliant colorful plumage and its long feathered tail that extends more than twice the length of the bird. In ancient Mayan culture the quetzal tail feathers were used as currency hence the name of Guatemalan currency today: quetzales.

Barista and Roaster Theo Bernandos recounts his time spent in Guatemala visiting with farmer owners at Manos Campesinas.
