BEHIND THE LABEL
Found in the large forests of Central America, the Quetzal is Guatemala's national bird. It stands out for it's brilliant colorful plumage and its long feathered tail that extends more than twice the length of the bird. In ancient Mayan culture the quetzal tail feathers were used as currency hence the name of Guatemalan currency today: quetzales.
MANOS CAMPESINAS
Vamos a Mi Casa
“¡Vamos a mí casa!”, Manuel implores me. After an hour of showing me his coffee fields, this brawny yet soft spoken Guatemalan farmer invites me to his home for lunch."
Roaster Theo Bernandos recounts his time spent in Guatemala visiting with the farmers of Manos Campesinas.
